At the smaller end of the collection, this pencil case is where a lot of first-time customers get introduced to the workshop's work, and Simohammed treats it with the same care as the larger commissioned pieces. A sliding lid, grooved to run smoothly without metal hardware, is inlaid with a narrow band of geometric marquetry that echoes the patterns used across the jewelry boxes and trays. Inside, the case is left as clean, aromatic thuya, so pens and pencils stored in it pick up a faint trace of the wood's cedar-like scent over time.
Each piece is unique. Thuya burl grain never repeats, so the exact tone, figure, and inlay pattern of the item you receive will vary slightly from the photographs shown.
